Aerial Techniques At The Priory Hotel, Louth Lincolnshire

NOTES

This sequence shows a shoot at a small hotel where I was staying in Louth down in England. The wind at ground level was very light, and with trees surrounding the lawn there was only one possible approach. A framed kite, my trusty Devotion to Motion Delta Conyne and a long launch. By leaning the kite against a downwind object, then using a running launch on about 70 feet of line it was possible to get the kite up into the fresh evening breeze.

I chose this sequence to show that it is possible to carry out KAP in confined spaces, with trees nearby, though I feel it is bringing the kite and rig down that needs kite handling experience.

Technical
The sequence was grabbed from a Sharp Handycam through my Hauppage TV card on my PC tuned to the video output from the camera. Frames were grabbed at fairly low resolution (250x190) to save on file size, capturing the relevant frame and saving each down to a GIF. Each GIF was then captioned and composited using a GIF animator. Obviously, this is neither an animation nor a video, more a sequence of pictures to give the flavour of the action.
Many thanks to Jim Parker for filming my efforts. If you wish to view again use your "refresh" or "reload" option. This page prepared May 1998
